It's funny, I was so desperate to just tell everyone that I was pregnant before the 12 week mark, but when it came around I was too nervous. For some reason, I was scared to tell our friends.
Our family were the first that we told, and of course, there was a lot of excitement. To tell our friends, we decided to have them all over for a BBQ and tell them then. My parter got up to thank everyone for coming and at the end of the speech told them all that we were expecting. The reactions were a mix of shock and excitement. And of course, following the announcement came a million questions. It felt great talking about it finally though.

The 3 Month Rule
Do you or don't you wait until the 12 week mark to let the world know that you are expecting? We decided to wait. Being my first pregnancy we did not want to take any risks. It wasn't easy though! When I denied alcohol at a couple of events it seemed the perfect time to just let people know the reason. However, the possibility of telling people our exciting news and then losing the baby is something that I don't think either me or partner could have dealt with. So, we waited...and it went forever!

The Decision
My partner and I took about a month to make our decision. I think, all along, I knew what I wanted to do. However, it was such a huge shock for both of us that we had many questions. Most of them were along the lines of 'Can we do this?' and 'Can we afford to do this?'
We talked to our parents throughout the decision making process and they were extremely supportive. We got all of our questions answered and advice on numerous things. After a long lunch with both sets of parents and a last "Yes, you can do this", our decision was made...we were having a baby!

The News
About 17 months ago I took a pregnancy test and got the biggest shock of my life. Yes, it came back positive. For about 3 weeks before I took the test I had been experiencing some nausea at the same time each day. No vomiting, just a general sick feeling. This made me take the test. I went home that night and sat my partner down and told him the news. This is probably one of the scariest things I have ever done. But, my partner was extremely supportive. He gave me a hug and we decided then and there that we would take out time in making a decision.

The Parenting Blog
At 27, I am a mum of an 8 month old daughter. I decided to start this blog to talk about the experiences I've had so far and those to come. If you are a parent or expecting parent I would love to hear about your experiences, problems or anything else parent or baby/child related.
